A free seven-week falls prevention workshop is being offered in Beulah and Hazen this fall! Trained leaders coach you to recognize your risk of falling and help you build the balance, strength, and practical skills you need to avoid a fall. The classes will be offered on Wednesdays, starting October 9 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Energy Wellness Center in Beulah or from 1 - 3 p.m. at Senior Citizen Center in Hazen. History of the Hazen Hospital: Celebrating 75 Years
In the fall of 1918, Hazen got an inadvertent and temporary hospital when its new school building was equipped with 24 beds and a staff of five Bismarck nurses to cope with the Spanish influenza epidemic. The facility closed shortly after. There was not even a temporary hospital when a sleeping sick ness (encephalitis) epidemic hit the community in the spring of 1923.
