March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and the perfect opportunity to talk to your medical provider about any concerns or schedule a colonoscopy.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States. Combined, it’s estimated there will be more than 150,000 new cases of colon and rectal cancer reported in the U.S. in 2022 alone. Colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer don’t always cause symptoms, especially at first. That’s why getting screened is so important.
Our surgical team at SMC performs colonoscopies, which are the most effective screening method for colorectal cancer. If you’re 45 to 75 years old, schedule your colonoscopy today. If you’re younger than 45 and think you may be at high risk of getting colorectal cancer, or if you’re older than 75, talk to your medical provider about screening. Because colorectal cancer screening saves lives.
