This unique program is designed for providing free or discounted care to those who have no means or limited means to pay for their services (uninsured and/or underinsured). In addition to quality healthcare, patients of Sakakawea Medical Center (SMC) are entitled to financial counseling with a representative from our Business Office who can offer possible solutions for those who cannot pay in full. Healing at Home

Despite undergoing a scary illness earlier this year, Kent Larson is now on the mend. He said this was largely due to the quality care provided by nursing staff at the hospital, as well as making use of the outpatient services available at the Sakakawea Medical Center Treatment Room that allowed Kent to spend much of his healing process at home. Kent is pictured here in that treatment room where he received his daily IV antibiotics. Beside him is Molly Nelson, RN, Nursing Care Coordinator, who helped care for him through his healing process.

SMC Rehab Offers Blood Flow Restriction Therapy

SMC Rehab offers an innovative therapy that helps with the development of muscle strength for a variety of patients. Steve Ziegler, PT, DPT, is certified to offer Blood Flow Restriction Therapy which is often used on patients prior to or following surgery in their extremities. Research has proven that BFRT can minimize loss of muscle mass, decrease bone healing time, and allow patients to improve muscle size and strength. BFRT is also a great option for patients with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteopenia, or osteoporosis.

Amanda Boyer Named DAISY Award Honoree

Amanda Boyer, RN, has been recognized as Sakakawea Medical Center's most recent DAISY Award recipient. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is an award that recognizes nurses for the amazing efforts they perform every day. Nurses are nominated for this award by patients, their families, or coworkers.
