COVID‐19 UPDATE — MARCH 24, 2020

Your local healthcare organizations have been closely following recent reports and information about the latest developments with COVID‐19, otherwise known as the coronavirus. We are working closely together to be prepared and we have processes in place per CDC and ND Department of Health requirements. This update provides information on what you can do to help prevent contracting the virus, and what you can expect from your local healthcare professionals should COVID‐19 directly affect you.

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID‐19, contact your healthcare provider at Coal Country Community Health Center (CCCHC) by phone first. If you are calling after‐hours, please contact Sakakawea Medical Center (SMC) at 7017482225.

For your information:

  • We have set up a clinic for patients with respiratory illnesses to be seen at the CCCHC Hazen Clinic. Patients that need to see a provider for other healthcare concerns, will be scheduled at the CCCHC Beulah, Killdeer, and Center Clinics.
  • When scheduling an appointment at one of the CCCHC clinics, all patients will be asked the following questions and will be scheduled at the appropriate clinic site.
    • Have you been in contact with someone who is sick or do you currently have any of these respiratory symptoms: Fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing?
    • Have you traveled internationally in the past 30 days?
    • Did you travel recently in the United States to Washington State, New York, or California?
    • Have you had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID‐19?
  • CCCHC Center & Killdeer Clinics are deferring patients with respiratory illnesses until further notice in order to provide safe quality care to our patients and maintain a safe environment for our rural outlying clinics.
  • Behavioral Health services at Coal Country Community Health Center will continue to be offered. When confirming your appointment, patients will be asked the COVID‐19 screening questions and must meet the criteria to be seen at one of our CCCHC Clinics. In addition, telehealth options are also available for behavioral health visits beginning the week of March 23, 2020.
  • Front desk staff at SMC will also be screening patients coming into the hospital and will be asking patients to wear a mask and gloves if necessary.
  • Visitor restrictions have been put in place at both SMC and Senior Suites.
  • Telehealth visits are currently being scheduled with a provider at the Beulah clinic. Please call 7018734445 for additional screening and triage questions to assess if a telehealth visit is appropriate.
